Family Based Care Association North West inc. is committed to providing individualised support for people with disability, frail aged and their carers.
Family Based Care Association North West inc. will provide quality services that deliver successful personal and social outcomes for our consumers, now and in the future.
Family Based Care is a community based organisation committed to providing individualised support for people with a disability, the frail aged, and their carers in a manner which respects and responds to the changing needs of clients.
Family Based Care Association North West Inc. (FBC) has been a leading force in the provision of community services on Tasmania’s North-West Coast for more than 25 years and is currently the largest employer in the sector in the NW region.
At FBC we aim to make a difference to those who may be struggling with independent living – whether it be due to ill health, age or disability – by providing various forms of assistance.
An ISO 9001 accredited association, Family Based Care was so named for our family friendly philosophy; a philosophy which has been sustained through the growth of the business, from its humble beginnings through to the vibrant and progressive organisation that it is today.
FBC currently employs more than 200 field-based and office staff, many with more than 20 years’ service. Based out of our office in Burnie and Devonport our staff service more than 1120 clients from Smithton to Sheffield, and we have recently expanded by opening an office in Launceston.
Originally known as Family Based Respite, the business started life in Reece House, Mount Street, Burnie, before moving to a small office in Alexander Street. With the first funding allocation for personal care granted in 1991 the business took on the name Family Based Care Association North West Inc. In 1994 FBC moved to an office in Catttley Street and further expanded in 2003 with a relocation to the corner of Wilson and Wilmot Streets and the subsequent opening of a satellite office in Oldaker Street, Devonport.
In July 2014 FBC came full circle and moved back into Mount Street, taking over the extensively renovated premises formerly occupied by legal firm Crisp, Hudson and Mann. A satellite office was also opened in York Street, Launceston.
FBC continues to grow despite our highly competitive industry and is optimistic about our place in the consumer-driven marketplace.
