Disability Services Port Stephens Inc (DSPSI)
Disability Services Port Stephens Inc (DSPSI) offers respite care, peer support and brokerage work to people with a disability and their carers in the Port Stephens Shire.
The organisation's Peer Support Program offers a variety of social and recreational activities within the community for people with a disability. The program is open to people with a disability who are aged between 16 and 64 years. A paid staff member and volunteers attend each activity, which can include ten pin bowling, dinner dances, picnics, arts and crafts, shows, etc.
The Respite Program provides people with a moderate to high disability with the opportunity to engage in social activities of their choice, whilst providing their carer with respite. Respite may be received out of home, or if preferred, in home. Respite is provided by a trained staff member and the program is limited to 8 places. Applications for the program are assessed on a six monthly basis.
Disability Services Port Stephens offers staff a friendly and supportive team environment with ongoing training opportunities. Salary packaging is also available. All staff are employed on a part time basis.
