Citizen Advocacy Western Sydney

We are a not for profit community group based in the Parramatta area that aims to recognise, promote and defend the rights and interests of people with intellectual disability. We have been in operation for over 30 years, supporting people living in the Parramatta, Hills Shire and Blacktown local government areas.
CAWS delivers 2 programs:
  • The Citizen Advocacy program carefully matches a person with intellectual disability (including people with multiple disabilities) to a citizen advocate. A citizen advocate is a caring, responsible member of the community willing to volunteer their time to make a positive difference in the life of someone with intellectual disability. The program also provides experienced professional staff to orient, resource and support the citizen advocates and their protégés that they are matched with.
  • The Direct Advocacy program  responds to the urgent advocacy needs of  people with intellectual disability, their families and carers via skilled and experienced staff.
