Most frontline support roles within the disability sector are in the Direct Service Delivery (DSD) job family. Roles can include Disability Support Workers, Social Educators and Therapy Assistants. People in these roles assist and support people with disability to achieve their goals and aspirations, and to live in their community as they choose.

Person centred knowledge and application
Understanding and applying practices that uphold the human rights of a person and places them at the centre of decision making about their life.
Personal care, skill development and support
Assisting a person by providing practical support and skill development in daily living activities in areas such as showering, medication management, taking public transport and attending appointments.
Participation and inclusion
Assisting a person by providing support to participate in areas such as education, employment, recreation and/or community activities.
Community engagement and education
Developing networks and presenting disability positively while working with other community members, volunteers and stakeholders.
Reporting, documentation and administration
Maintaining appropriate notes, records and documentation and effectively using communication and technology systems.
