Executive Management (EM) 13

Executive roles in the disability sector lead organisations that assist and support people with disability to achieve their goals and aspirations, and to live in the community as they choose. There is a diverse range of roles within EM 13 such as:

  • Chief Executive Officers
  • Chief Operating Officers
  • General Managers
  • Executive Officers
  • Senior Managers
  • Executive Managers

As an EM 13, you’re possibly an executive manager or a CEO of a smaller organisation managing a number of multi-disciplinary programs/projects.  As an executive manager of a larger organisation you’ll manage either a variety of significant functions or the deployment of resources and multi-disciplinary services across multiple locations.

You demonstrate strategic analytical and executive management skills, effectively manage relationships on key strategic issues and have an extensive network. What is particularly important about your role is that you facilitate and support organisational change, and initiate and provide overall program leadership on major projects.

You may not have formal qualifications or training in disability, but you will have other skills, experience, capabilities and transferable qualifications that support you to have a successful and enjoyable career in the disability sector.

At an EM 13 level, you will provide expert knowledge in a major area of business and/or a multi-disciplinary understanding at an executive level, plus you will also demonstrate strategic management skills.

EM 13 roles are demanding and challenging, yet there is no doubt that through your leadership, you’re ensuring that your organisation and its employees are making a difference to the lives of people with disability.
