Support Worker - Greek Speaking (Part Time)

One Door Mental Health is committed to improving the circumstances and welfare of people with a serious mental illness, their relatives and carers, and professionals working in the area.
Based at our Burwood office, you will work predominately with the Greek speaking community and Greek and other non-English speaking organisations to understand the needs of people with a mental illness, their families and friends of Greek and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, to develop activities to meet the identified needs and to facilitate access to appropriate services, including NDIS for eligible individuals. You will use your excellent communication and organisational skills to ensure that clients have goal orientated Individual Support Plans, facilitate access to social and recreational activities and support clients to gain independent and fully functional living skills.
What you can bring to the role
To be successful in this role you must hold a current and valid WWCC number, Drivers' Licence and have access to a fully insured motor vehicle. A current National Police Certificate (issued within the past 6 months) would be ideal. Demonstrated experience in supporting clients recovering from mental illness and understanding of the recovery based approach is a must. Communication skills are essential as you will work with a variety of people from a Greek speaking background as well as other CALD backgrounds. Knowledge of the Greek language and culture is a must and ability to speak, read and write Greek will be highly regarded.
Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role you must possess a current Working with Children Clearance and a National Criminal History Check (within the past 6 months).
