The Role:
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations including ordering, menu development and costing, ensuring that the kitchens and catering operations meet budget.
Another highly important element of the role is supporting the work experience program and the recruitment of our supported employees and ensure their training and support needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Periodic reporting to management
  • Ensure ongoing training of Bedford’s supported employees
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with clients, customers and contractors
  • Ensure meals and customer service are of high standards
  • Ensure meals and customer service are of high standards
  • Build a strong team environment
  • Maintain work health and safety standards
  • Understand and apply the requirements of the Quality Management Systems and ensure the HACCP fundamentals are maintained
  • Ensuring clients’ dietary requirements are met in conjunction with residential services
Although it's not essential to have worked with people with disability previously, having patience and an even temperament will see you fit in perfectly. The successful applicant will however have demonstrated experience in a café, canteen or kitchen environment, have a working knowledge of HCCAP and exceptional customer service. Possessing commercial kitchen experience will put you at an advantage.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 11.30am to 7.30pm, at award level SESA5.
Key Attributes:
  • Friendly and outgoing when dealing with internal, external customers and employees
  • Motivated and accepting of change for business improvement
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Competent MS Office skills
  • Understanding of HACCP, Food Act 2001 (SA), Food Industry Standards
  • An up to date police clearance and DCSI (Child) clearance are essential requirements for this role
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise competing demands and remain calm under pressure.
