Technical Business Analyst

Position title: Technical Business Analyst - providing IT support for CP Commons, CP Check-Up™ and CP Registers

Employment type: Temporary Part Time; 0.4 FTE

Location: Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Institute, The University of Sydney

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and lead new initiatives to uncover the causal pathways to cerebral palsy. This role will act as an end-to-end Technical Business Analyst on three different projects that span web based international platforms with significant research importance. These platforms will harness the power of Big Data to make research breakthroughs.

Your role will be embedded within the Research Team, supported by the IT team and you will be based at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Institute at Camperdown, Brain and Mind Centre. You will work with the multidisciplinary subject matter experts, including software architects, engineers and academic researchers. You will help the Research team define and draft system scope and objectives and translate these requirements into 'user functions'. Liaise between the technical team members and the research stakeholders to agree on user requirement scope and delivery. Assist in design specifications ensuring that requirements are met, tested and implemented.

You will be required to travel from time to time within Sydney Metropolitan Area.

This position is a one year contract.

What will you bring to the role?

Essential selection criteria:
  • Relevant qualification as a Technical Business Analyst with a development background (e.g., IIBA or BCS)
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to develop excellent working rapport with key stakeholders, including external vendors at all levels
  • The capacity to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to think and analyse situations from both a strategic objective and organisational level as well as at a detailed information and data-flow level
  • Knowledge of any or all of the following: Wordpress CMS, HTML, CSS, basic Java scripting, ASP.NET, IIS
  • Demonstrate an ability to take on challenging domains and have a real passion for science
  • A keen desire to learn about and work within health research

Desirable selection criteria:
  • Experience with relevant open source software including , Redcap, Arvados, Key Cloak and Lab key
  • Ability to travel within the Sydney Metropolitan area as required
