McLean Care Ltd (formerly H.N. McLean Memorial Retirement Village)
McLean Care Ltd, formerly H.N. McLean Memorial Retirement Village, has a proud history of service to the Inverell district dating back to its original concept of a convalescent home, which commenced operations in 1953.
Hector Neil McLean, after whom the Village is named, was an Inverell businessman of proud Scottish heritage. He had a vision to establish a convalescent home for women, back in the days of poor transport. The home was established as a facility that allowed for recuperation following illness, surgery or childbirth before having to return to locations throughout the local district.
Upon his death in 1932 he made a generous bequest of his farm Killean, upon which the Village now exists, and a sum of money to establish a convalescent home. His Will allowed for the appointment of Trustees to carry out his wishes. A condition of his Will directed that the financial estate be invested for a period of ten years; however this expired in the midst of World War II which delayed the construction of the convalescent home until 1951 due to the difficulty of acquiring building materials.
Since those days, McLean Care has grown to be one of the largest aged care and community care service provides in North West NSW. The residential care services and the retirement living options have expanded to cater for 190 residents. In keeping with the original vision of being responsive to identified needs, in 2001 McLean Care established a community services program.
We are now proud to provide care services for over 650 people throughout the New England North West NSW
