Headwest (Brain Injury Assoc of WA Inc)
Headwest is guided by the belief that people with an ABI should be treated with dignity and respect, and be supported to achieve the greatest degree of independence possible, in their participation of activities and opportunities available to the community of which they are a part.
Headwest's core business can be divided into three areas; advocacy, training and awareness. Please click on the links below to find out more information about how we can help you:
Our key focus is to provide advocacy services for people dealing with ABI. This includes people with an ABI, their Carers and their families. Our philosophy is guided by our fundamental belief in human rights. People with disabilities often have to work with a large number of systems in their lives. These systems can range from social security to vocational rehabilitation and health services, from the public schools to private employers. We provide individual, systemic, peer and self-advocacy services to support them in these activities.
We have over 30 years of expertise within the field of ABI and disability services. This knowledge has enabled us to develop training courses that assist in a practical way when working with individuals with an ABI. From a short and essential session that covers the basics of ABI to a more detailed, developed and tailored course, we can provide you with training solutions that best suits your needs.
We are always happy to carry out health promotion activities and campaigns with the aim raising awareness of ABI and also reducing the incidence of brain injury. We are proud supporters of Bang on a Beanie, Safety in Schools Week and the RACs Be Street Smart campaign.
