Family Link (Family Link Wagga Wagga Respite Care Scheme)

Family Link is a not for profit organisation that provides respite and support to frail aged older people and younger people with a disability. Family Link is funded to provide services in line with the Commonwealth Home and Community Care (HACC) Program and Family and Community services (ADHC).
 
The Purpose of Family Link
 
The purpose of Family Link is to support families, children and young people with a disability and frail older people by the provision of temporary, flexible and responsive respite and support care, assist people with a disability and frail older people to maintain the necessary social and life skills to enable each individual to have a valued role in the community.
 
The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program
 
The Commonwealth HACC Program provides services that support older people to stay at home and be more independent in the community, these services may include:
 
  • domestic assistance, including help with cleaning, washing and shopping
  • personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing, grooming and eating
  • social support
  • home maintenance
  • assistance with food preparation in the home
  • support for carers including respite service
Who works for the service?
 
We employ Support Workers and Volunteers who have relevant experience and qualifications, and will try to match clients with a worker/volunteer who may have similar interests to the person. We pride ourselves on having very caring staff that will always work to empower their client.
 
What facilities do Family Link have?
 
Family Link has a respite house based in Glenfeild Park, Wagga Wagga this house is available for up to 5 people to receive care at one time or on a one to one basis. The house is complete with all facilities required to support people who are frail aged and or younger people with a disability with high support needs or complex medical needs. You may utilise the house for day respite,  overnight respite long or short term depending on your needs.
