I’ve worked in the sector for 4 years now and I’m currently a Project Officer for the Respite and In-Home Care Team at The Disability Trust. The service is based in Nowra and we provide in-home support to clients with disabilities throughout the Shoalhaven area.
My job is to coordinate and provide support to the care staff who visit clients in their homes. We have about 21 clients with a range of support needs, and a number of care staff.
I’m predominantly based in the office but I do have some direct contact with clients, and I see them regularly. I provide a lot of support and direction to staff so I am often a listening board for any of the staff who are having challenges or just want to talk about their experiences.
I’ve worked in Aged Care and at Housing NSW, and I’m currently completing a Diploma of Community Services. I love my current role and enjoy it because I get to see our clients happy and living an independent life as a result of the services we provide.
