A Public Relations Professional will manage an organisation's internal and external public relations, including dealing with media such as TV, newspaper and radio. The key purpose of the role is to ensure fair and accurate reporting about the organisation, as well as positive promotion of the organisation.

A Public Relations Professional may also be known as a Publicist or Communications Consultant.

Basic qualifications in public relations are available, however the necessary skills tend to be acquired through experience. The experience of other sectors in a public relations career would add value to the disability and community care sector, however experience within this sector is equally valuable.
