As an SPS 11, you’re a senior professional with additional deep and/or broad specialised knowledge, as such, you’re viewed as an expert in your given field and are expected to provide advice and assistance to senior managers and other professional staff.  A key part of your role involves undertaking projects and/or developing service offerings using your expertise, professional knowledge and experience.  
 
Plus you’ll identify person-centred service improvements consistent with research, policies and strategic direction. Due to your experience and knowledge you may manage a small number of professional staff or be a program team leader, or manage professional services projects.
 
Qualifications and experience
 
There are job roles in the SPS job family where formal qualifications and practice registration are a pre-requisite. Employers will specify qualification or equivalent experience requirements for particular roles. To be considered for an SPS 11 role, it is essential for you to have a relevant tertiary qualification and generally a post-graduate qualification in a related specialist area.
 
You will also have a broad understanding of the organisation you work for or are interested in working for, the disability sector, professional practices and internal/external operating environments.
