Corporate and Service Support (CSS) 1

People in CSS 1 roles use a range of practical administration skills and experience to assist and support service delivery teams in disability organisations.  Role titles within the CSS job family include:

  • Rostering Coordinator
  • Administrator
  • Procurement Administrator
  • Payroll Administrator
  • Personal Assistant
  • Receptionist
  • Regional Administrator

As a CSS 1, you’ll learn and develop the capability to undertake straightforward administrative support tasks. You’ll be able to take enquiries over the phone or in person, complete data entry and use a range of office equipment. You’ll develop a basic understanding of the organisation’s policies and procedures.

You will also get to know the supports and services the organisation offers to assist people with disability. Work within the CSS 1 role is well structured and repetitive, which will let you master your work and become confident in your role. CSS 1 staff members usually work under training or close supervision.

Qualifications and experience

You don’t need to worry if you don’t have formal qualifications or training in disability, as you’ll almost certainly have other skills, experience and capabilities that are extremely useful and that will help contribute to having a successful and enjoyable career in the disability sector. Employers will specify qualification or equivalent experience requirements for particular roles, however, having the right attitude and a desire to make a difference are two other important qualities that you’ll need as a CSS 1.
